What I’m Listening To – 24/07/14

Reid – ‘Singapore’

Reid resurfaced a few weeks ago with ‘Fractures’ (feat. Slow Skies). Now the Dublin producer has thrown ‘Singapore’ into the mix, a whirlwind of carefully placed electronics and although instrumental, it’s full of mystery. The track is taken from his new EP ‘Fractures’ due 11th August, which also includes a track featuring Woman’s Hour, who he recently remixed.

J M R – ‘One Time’

‘One Time’ is the beautiful new track from Florida musician by J M R (that’s Joshua Michael Robinson). The soulful vocal holds itself tall against the shifting beat. Fellow capital letter fans EXROYALE and Ryne Estwing of ON AN ON teamed up with J M R to write and record the track, but it’s under his moniker that it’s released. His previous track ‘Closer’ is another swooning offering.

GRMLN – ‘Jaded’

Scuzzy and fast-paced, ‘Jaded’ pushes through with a roaring skater sound from GRMLN – the alias of Yoodoo Park, who resides in Southern California. The track is a hearty road trip anthem that has been unshackled to bask freely in the sunshine. ‘Jaded’ is taken from his second album ‘Soon Away’ out 16th September.

SBTRKT – ‘New Dorp New York’

SBTRKT has linked up with Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig for new track ‘New Dorp New York’. Ezra’s distinctive twang fronts the abstract composition from London producer Aaron Jerome. Metallic beats, spoken words and surprise loops filter in, giving it even more character. With acts like Jessie Ware, Warpaint, Raury and A$AP Ferg all set to feature on his new album, ‘Wonder Where We Land’, it seems there’s a whole lot more where this came from.

Anto Dust – ‘Traitor’s Gate’

Anto Dust make spiralling dream pop that floats along with shoegaze tendencies and wistful vocals. There’s also a loop in the first half that could be mistaken for a Samsung alarm tone. But, the London five piece, fronted by vocalist and guitarist Anto Cossu, have devised a euphoric and charming formula to awaken the ears, reminiscent of early St. Vincent.
